Like the ornamental lattice-work between carvings on the walls of whare nui, that it is named after, Arapaki Manners Library is a place of connection. Arapaki are unique because it takes two artists working together to complete each one. |
Wellington’s coolest little library branch is located at 70 Molesworth Street, with a collection and services tailored to complement the immense taonga housed by the Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa National Library of New Zealand. It’s also the closest branch to the Railway Station transport hub so it’s convenient for workers to drop in to pick up a reserve. Library staff are on hand to answer questions, join up new members, or deliver programmes, many in collaboration with the National Library. As well as NZ, Māori, and Pacific books, it offers customers magazines, access to digital content, and inviting spaces with free WiFi, public PCs, printing/scanning facilities and seating. |

| Opened in May 2020, Te Awe Library is the third “pop-up” library in Wellington City Libraries’ CBD offering after the closure of the Central Library. Located in the historic Harbour City Centre Building, Te Awe Library is spread over two floors with a café and dedicated event space. Named after the white feathers or plumes that are added to taonga as embellishment, Te Awe is the largest of the CBD libraries and offers a diverse range of services to our central community. Our team follow a roving staffing pattern so you’ll find their friendly faces against the library shelves. We’re excited to be opened and are looking forward to learning who our community are! |
